Caius, a ten-year-old Roman boy, takes you through the city's streets, markets, and temples, before leading you behind the scenes of the Colosseum: the underground training areas for gladiators, the cages for wild beasts, and the machinery that conjures the scenery. Then you ascend into the light, amidst the roar of 000 spectators, guided by the voice of Flamma—a legendary gladiator who became a free man after 34 fights. Yes. The reconstruction of the Colosseum and the city is based on the latest archaeological research and the work of historians specializing in Roman Antiquity. The monument's architecture, hypogea, arena machinery, daily life, costumes, and the organization of the games: every detail has been documented and validated by experts. Colosseum: The legendary arena is co-produced by Excurio, a studio whose documentary rigor is its signature.
Are gladiatorial combats violent or shocking?
The experience captures the full power of the arena: the tension, the roar of the crowd, the imminence of the fight. But it doesn't show graphic scenes of violence. Because the story is told from a child's perspective, the visitor remains in the position of a curious witness rather than a spectator of a massacre.
