A good immersive experience. The last ramparts of Carcassonne give a good idea of what life was like at that time.

Your questions about our experiences

The virtual reality immersion lasts approximately 40 minutes. Including the welcome, briefing, equipment fitting, and debriefing, allow about 1 hour in total to fully enjoy your journey into 1870s Paris alongside the Impressionist painters.

Not at all. The experience is designed as an immersive narrative accessible to everyone, including those with no prior knowledge of art history. You wander freely through the streets of Paris, observe artists in their studios, witness their conversations, and discover their works at the very moment of their creation. The narrative guides you naturally, without jargon or prerequisites. Many visitors tell us they leave wanting to learn more about Impressionism—it is, above all, an experience of wonder and curiosity.

Yes, the experience is suitable for children as young as 8. Free exploration of the venues—workshops, Parisian cafés, the banks of the Seine—and encounters with the artists make the immersion lively and captivating for younger participants. It's a sensitive introduction to art history, linked to school curricula (visual arts, 19th-century history), with no prerequisites or violent or frightening content.

An Evening with the Impressionists is a production of Excurio, Gédéon Expériences, and the Musée d'Orsay. Scientific direction was provided by Sylvie Patry and Anne Robbins, curators specializing in Impressionism. The recreation of 1870s Paris—its places, its atmosphere, its artistic debates—is based on archives, artists' correspondence, and contemporary historical sources. Each scene combines documentary rigor and emotion to immerse you in the very birth of the Impressionist movement.

You'll encounter the great figures of the Impressionist movement—Monet, Renoir, Degas, and their contemporaries—in the very places that marked the birth of this art form. You'll find yourself on the Île de la Grenouillère, where Monet and Renoir painted side by side, in Le Havre before the subject of Impression, Sunrise, in Parisian studios, and at the heart of the first independent exhibition in 1874. The experience transports you to several meticulously recreated settings, allowing you to relive the foundational moments of Impressionism from the inside.

Because of its contemplative nature—strolling through streets, studios, and landscapes along the Seine—An Evening with the Impressionists is one of the least likely experiences to cause dizziness. There are no high places or sudden movements. Our team remains present throughout the immersive experience to assist you, and you can stop at any time if you feel unwell.

Yes, and it's even easier since this experience is the shortest in the Lyon catalog, with its 40-minute immersion. Many visitors choose to combine it with another expedition in the afternoon. Our Lyon Confluence center offers a total of five experiences covering very different worlds: Ancient Egypt, Prehistory, the Middle Ages, and Art History. You can book two consecutive slots online or check availability directly at reception.
