Relive the evening
who revolutionized the history of art
Paris, April 15, 1874, eight o'clock in the evening.
Breaking with the artistic conventions of their time, Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir and Edgar Degas are preparing to exhibit for the first time outside the official Salon. An event that will mark the launch of a new movement: Impressionism.
This immersive expedition invites you to relive this memorable moment in the presence of the painters themselves, to discover the bonds of friendship or inanity that united them, and to travel through time to Paris in the 1870s.
GO BACK IN TIME TO THE ORIGINS OF IMPRESSIONISM
This journey will take you beyond the exhibition to emblematic places from the beginnings of the Impressionist movement.
You will find yourself on the island of La Grenouillère, in the company of Monet and Renoir painting together, in Le Havre, where Monet created his famous painting "Impression, Sunrise". Experiencing the artistic quest of these painters as if you were at their side: such is the promise of this journey filled with emotion and visual wonder.
A HISTORICAL RECONSTRUCTION
What did Paris look like at the time? How did the exhibition's paintings appear in Nadar's studio on Boulevard des Capucines? What did the painters really look like? This experiment is the result of ambitious and meticulous scientific work, supported by the Musée d'Orsay, which has made it possible to reconstruct, as faithfully as possible, this major artistic turning point.
THE PAINTERS' GALLERY
Meet the artists, immerse yourself in their colorful personalities and discover their emblematic works, commented on by the painters themselves!
